The opening ceremony will take place in the « Salle Molière » at Palais de Bondy, in the heart of the old town nieghbourhood, on the banks of the Saône river. Built between 1902 and 1904 to host the Conservatory of the city of Lyon, this imposing building displays on its front the city’s motto “avant, avant lion le melhior”. The Salle Molière, which will host the opening ceremony, was inaugurated in 1912 to mainly host chamber music concerts. It benefits from an acoustic effect of a high quality, which makes of it one of the most beautiful and appreciated concert hall of the city. It was decorated by Louis Bardey, professor at the School of Fine Arts of Lyon. The city’s motto also appears on the hall’s ceiling, as a reminder of the building’s front. The legend says that the hall bears the name of illustrious playwright Molière, as a tribute to his venue in the city between 1652 and 1655, when was put on for the first time his play “The dizzy” in the room of the game of palm, which stood where the Palais de Bondy stands today.
